The Arrow Of Light Ceremony will be on Friday, February 11th at West University Methodist Church in the High Court.

The Arrow of Light ceremony is in essence a coming of age ceremony symbolizing that Cub Scouts are now ready to become Boy Scouts. During the ceremony, Scouts of all ages and ranks are asked to step forward, as are parents and grandparents.

Pack 266 will have two ceremonies.  We have 24 Webelos 2’s who have earned the highest award!

The Golden Eagle and Scorpion Patrols will crossover at the ceremony beginning at 5 pm (arrive 4:45 pm) and then have dinner.

The Lightning and Pirate Patrols will have dinner first beginning at 5:30 and then attend their crossing over ceremony at 7 pm.

The dinner buffet line will open around 5:15pm in the Drummet Building (ground floor at the back of the building.)  Those doing the second ceremony should arrive 5:15-ish, have dinner, and move upstairs by 6:45 in time to for the second ceremony to begin at 7 pm.  The second ceremony should conclude around 8:45 pm.

IMPORTANT INFO

Scouts should look their best: clean, combed, tucked in, full Class A uniform including neckerchief, belt, Webelos Badges, pins, compass emblem, religious award(s), etc.

Parents and Grandparents might dress up a little too.  You’re expected to participate in the ceremony, so please make every effort to attend.  This is a full blown “right-of-passage” ceremony with tons of memorable symbolism.

Sibling Scouts:  please wear your uniforms too and plan to assist Chief Ray & company in conducting the ceremony.

Pack 266 will provide each scout with a trophy arrow of light, painted with various colored stripes representing his accomplishments.

Webelos from the Golden Eagle Patrol with a few tag-along Pirates camped out with Troop 55 December 4-5, 2010.

Den Chiefs do make a difference! Troop 266 has been assigning the Pack Den Chiefs, and the Lightning Patrol recently received able instruction for Handyman Badge from theirs. The boys enjoyed learning about car and bicycle maintenance from their older fellow Scout. Thanks Troop 266!

Webelos II Scouts from Pack 266 joined up with Boy Scouts from Troop 266 for a river rafting expedition. What a great way to get a taste of all the adventure that lies ahead! Great job, Webelos!

Webelos turn artists for a day

Congratulations to the 12 boys who remained focused for 2 hours (less a 3 minute break) on art, including the creation of:

  • A Robert Rauschenberg inspired mixed media collage
  • A Stuart Davis inspired mixed media abstract
  • An Alexander Calder inspired mobile
  • Their Leonardo Da Vinci inspired sketch of a family member
  • (An introduction to) horizons painting

It was really interesting to observe how differently each of the boys approached each work, resulting in very individual art.

Each Webelo earned their Artist Requirement and Belt Loop, and were presented with their bling.

Requirements met included 1, 2, 4, 6, 8,10, 11

Great work, Webelos!
